SPOKANE, Wash. — Five new members were inducted into the Hooptown Hall of Fame.
The class is headlined by former Gonzaga and Mead High School legend Adam Morrison.
Morrison played at Gonzaga for three seasons becoming one of the faces of college basketball. He led the nation in scoring during the 2005-06 season and went on to play for the Charlotte Bobcats and Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA.
“Well when I first played in Hoopfest I was in fourth grade,” Morrison said. “You hear of a three-on-three tournament downtown and you’re like oh it’s going to be 20 courts and you come down and it’s built to what it is now. It’s tremendous for the community, it’s great for all skill levels all those things matter.”
Morrison was joined by Terry Kelly, Linda Sheridan, Larry Wendel and Tammy Tibbles.
Tibbles played for Gonzaga in set a state record for the most points scored in a game in 1984.
Kelly was a Gonzaga Prep and Washington State standout who led the Cougars to the NCAA Tournament in 1980.
Sheridan coached Shadle Park to back-to-back state titles in 1988 and ’89.
Wendel is longtime Spokane referee who has officiated more than 5,000 games over his nearly 50-year career.
It’s the third Hall of Fame class in Hooptown history.
