MOSCOW, Idaho — Idaho opened up fall camp on Wednesday.
The team practiced outside in the heat instead of inside the Kibbie Dome.
Head coach Jason Eck says his team is preparing for warm weather games in the early part of the season.
“I think it’s good for us,” Eck said. I think it’s good for your overall conditioning. Usually your first football game is tough no matter what the weather is just because it’s your first time playing a full game. I think it’s good for us. We have to do a good job taking care of our bodies, staying hydrated. We’re weighing the guys after practice to see how much water they’re losing from sweat and making sure we’re keeping them healthy.”
The Vandals enter the season with high expectations after making its first FCS Quarterfinal appearance since 1983.
UI was picked to finish third in the Big Sky this season.
Idaho opens the season August 31 at Oregon.
