SAN FRANCISCO, Calif – Gonzaga will be in the West Coast Conference for only two more seasons and Thursday, the Zags were once again picked to win the conference.
The 11 coaches of the WCC picked the Zags to win the conference for the sixth time in the last seven years.
Saint Mary’s was picked to take second; the Gaels earned one first-place vote.
Gonzaga was also ranked sixth in the first AP poll of the season, behind Kansas, Alabama, UConn, Houston and Iowa State.
Washington State was picked fifth in the WCC pre-season poll. The Cougs and Oregon State will play in the WCC as the Pac-12 conference rebuilds.
Four Zags and one Coug were named to the All-WCC Preseason Team.
Michael Ajayi, Nolan Hickman, Graham Ike and Ryan Nembhard earn the honors for the Zags, joined by Cedric Coward for WSU.
Gonzaga will play this season and next in the WCC before moving to the Pac-12 in 2026.
