PULLMAN, Wash. – If Cedric Coward wasn’t a household name for Cougar fans already, tonight’s 30-point performance sure changed that.
Washington State (4-1) men’s basketball swelled their record against Big Sky competition to 2-0 after a resounding 83-69 win over the Northern Colorado Bears (3-2) in the programs’ second-ever meeting, both Cougar wins.
Coward wasn’t the only Coug with an excellent evening, as Isaiah Watts swished four of his six threes off the bench to end the night with 12 of the bench’s 16 total points.
Wazzu committed 12 turnovers to UNC’s six, but this is much better than the 18 WSU coughed up last game against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Washington State returns to the hardwood in a neutral-site battle against their third and final Big Sky team: the Eastern Washington Eagles. The Eags are the former home of Coward and three other starters, plus head coach David Riley.
Tip-off for the Cougars/Eagles game is this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Spokane Arena.
