SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Chiefs skated their way to the 2025 WHL Playoffs in style: 45 wins a stark contrast from just 15 two years ago.
The catalyst for this quick turnaround is their trio of frontline forwards: Berkley Catton, Shea Van Olm, and newcomer Andrew Cristall.
“There’s a little bit of everything on our line with speed, smarts, a little grit,” Catton said. “So, it’s worked well.”
Spokane acquired the high-scoring Cristall from the Kelowna Rockets midway through the season, and he blasted off to the win the top goalscorer in the league.
“You know, all the boys have been unreal at welcoming me in and making me feel at home right away,” Cristall said. “So that definitely helped a lot with the on-ice production and the off-ice.”
The three now will look to help Spokane win not just their first playoff series, but first playoff game since 2019.
“I think we really complement each other a lot, we got a little bit of everything, we got playmaking, we got speed we got scoring and physicality, so yeah, it’s been awesome,” Van Olm said. “I can’t ask for two better linemates, and I’d hope they say the same about me.”
Puck drop for game one against Vancouver is Friday at 8:00 p.m.
