SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane is gearing up to host several high-profile games for this weekend’s NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
UConn, LSU, NC State, UCLA, Kansas State, Mississippi, Oklahoma and USC will all take to the court, hoping for their chance to advance through the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight rounds.
For the Lilac City, it’s a chance to showcase a lively restaurant and local business scene.
“Oh yeah, I love it,” said O’Doherty’s Irish Grille. manager Ryan Giese. “January an February are the slow months, then March, we really pick up and are expecting a big weekend.”
While the nation’s best college basketball teams battle it out on the hardtop, 12,000 athletes will pack The Podium across the street for the Pacific Northwest Qualifier, the biggest volleyball tournament in the Northwest.
Between the two tournaments and record-breaking weather, Spokane will be abuzz with energy.
It’s sure to be an exciting time for both basketball die-hards and casual fans.
