SPOKANE, Wash. — March Madness is wrapping up here in Spokane.
Games come to a close Monday night with an Elite 8 match up between UConn and USC.
Ahead of the game, UConn Nation hosted a celebration at Purgatory Agave. Their marching band ignited the energy downtown.
People traveled from all over the country this past weekend to join in on some of the madness, and we asked some of them what they thought about the Lilac City.
“It’s very friendly. It’s been great. Everybody’s been really helpful and showing us around the different parts when we’ve asked questions,” said Danita Frame who was visiting from Montana.
Many other fans said they were enjoying everything Spokane has to offer.
“We have had some really great food and I actually have really enjoyed how walkable and easy it is to get to the stadium,” said Kate who was vising from San Francisco. “That’s been super clean.”
Trojans and Husky fans alike got to soak in the best of the Inland Northwest.
“Spokane has a lot of really great sports,” said Ralph Santos, a member of USC’s marching band. “I’ve been going out, running and I’ve been watching the waterfall or I went to Cannon Hill Park, which is like a couple blocks down. It’s so not like LA it’s such a great disconnect from all the busy city life.”
Spokane has already confirmed the first and second rounds for the Men’s NCAA basketball tournament in 2027.
