CHENEY, Wash. – As the 2025 NFL Draft quickly approaches, players like former Eastern Washington Eagle wide receiver Efton Chism III eagerly wait in anticipation for their name to be called.
“It’s going to be crazy,” Chism said. “You put a lot of hard work, dedication into this for the past four or five years in college, and then the four years before that in high school. It’s just a lot of different emotions, I’ll probably cry, probably be sad, probably be excited, a little bit of everything.”
Last season as a senior, Chism led Division I in catches, finished tied for fifth in touchdowns and sixth in total receiving yards, breaking the all-time single-season EWU records for most catches and yards.
Chism was voted an FCS First-Team All-American, and now prepares to be next in line for the latest Eastern wide receiver to make an impact in the pros, just like new Seattle Seahawk and former Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp.
“I can’t thank those guys enough,” Chism said. “They don’t realize it, they’re having an impact in the receiver room every day. We’re always talking about those guys, like how do we chase those guys, how do we get closer to those footsteps, how do we follow the blueprint they set. Hopefully, by the end of my career, I’ll have guys talking about me just the way I was talking about Coop and KB and those guys.”
The 2025 NFL Draft begins at 5:00 p.m. on ABC, and you can watch all the action on 4 News Now.
