PORTLAND, Ore. – A playoff run 17 years in the making, the Spokane Chiefs are back to the WHL Finals.
The Chiefs closed their remarkable Western Conference Finals series against the Portland Winterhawks in a 4-0 sweep with a 6-4 win tonight, scoring a staggering 30 goals across the four games.
Andrew Cristall scored twice to bring his playoff total to 20 goals, and Coco Armstrong, Rasmus Ekstrom, Shea Van Olm and Owen Martin added scores as well.
This series win is Spokane’s first sweep in any playoff series since 2008, the last year Spokane won the Memorial Cup.
Game 1 of the Chiefs’ WHL Finals series against the Medicine Hat Tigers is to be determined.
