SPOKANE, Wash. – It’s tougher to find a stronger pitching duo in the Northwest League than Michael Prosecky and Konner Eaton.
The two rank in the top seven in the league for strikeouts thrown and WHIP, which is walks and hits per innings pitched.
They both spoke to us today about the competitive spirit in the locker room, and how the collaborative efforts help better everyone.
“It’s kinda unspoken, you’re always trying to just… you pick up from each other, everybody has conversations, we share ideas, share this, share that, and it’s all because we’re ultimately trying to get to the same place,” Prosecky said.
“Being able to learn and just stay humble, and just being able to ask questions,” Eaton said. “I mean, this is the growth right here, this is the development of being able to try and get better each and every day, and that’s what I try and do.”
Prosecky and Eaton also remarked how they take the long breaks in-between starting on the mound.
“You know, you just gotta flush it, the second you make it stressful, it becomes stressful,” Prosecky said. “We get to play a game for a living, we get to travel to all these obscure places and play some baseball, and you gotta put it in perspective that you’ll have another one.”
“Kinda like it, to be honest with you. Being a starter, it’s not just going out there and pitching at the same time, you have to do your scouting,” Eaton said. “You don’t just come out here and watch the games, you’re out here… you’re trying to get your classroom work in pretty much.”
Spokane resumes their series against Tri-City tonight at 6:35 p.m.
