OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Only a couple of weeks after becoming the first former Gonzaga Bulldog to start for an NBA title, Chet Holmgren locked down a five-year, $239 million max rookie extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The 23-year-old joins NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on massive deals, $250 of that Holmgren deal guaranteed money.
Holmgren added 15.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game for the Thunder in their Finals run. His 100.9 defensive rating was the best of any player in the Finals, helping beat the Indiana Pacers in seven games.
Holmgren now is the highest-paid former Zag in the league.
