SPOKANE, Wash. — An 18-year-old man was arrested Saturday after stabbing a woman and threatening others with a knife and replica gun, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
Daniel R. Cozby was booked into Spokane County Jail on four felony assault charges and misdemeanor charges of interfering with domestic violence reporting and malicious mischief, according to jail records.
Deputies responded at 3:15 p.m. to E. 8th Avenue and S. Eastern Road, where they found a woman with a non-life-threatening stab wound to her leg, deputies said.
The incident began after one of Cozby’s ex-girlfriends broke up with him earlier that day, according to the sheriff’s office. When she met with friends to retrieve belongings, Cozby jumped out from behind a concrete barrier.
“Well, I have a gun and a knife and I’m not afraid to use it,” Cozby told the victims, according to the police report.
Cozby returned with a knife and what appeared to be a handgun, stabbing one woman and pointing the gun at his juvenile family member’s head, deputies said. He also broke the juvenile’s phone as she tried to call 911.
Deputies recovered the knife and “gun,” which was determined to be a BB pistol, the sheriff’s office said.
