PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State Cougars (7-24, 6-12) earned a positive finish to a tough regular season with a 57-50 win over the Saint Mary’s Gaels (15-16, 6-12).
Eleonora Villa led the Cougs in scoring with 13 points shooting just under 50%, she was one of only three WSU players with double-digit scoring, including Malia Ruud off the bench with 12.
Wazzu heavily outrebounded Saint Mary’s, including 14 offensive rebounds to just nine, leading to easy second-chance buckets.
The Cougs now wait for the WCC Tournament, where they’ll be seeded 10th after losing the tiebreaker to Pacific and Saint Mary’s.
