MOSCOW, Idaho — The Idaho Vandals women’s basketball clinched the Big Sky Conference regular-season championship outright, defeating the Eastern Washington Eagles, 75-64 at ICCU Arena. Idaho finished 17-1 in league play, the best mark in the conference.
The Vandals led 34-35 after three quarters and pulled away behind a strong fourth quarter in which they outscored the Eagles 29-18. Hope Hassmann led Idaho with 25 points while Ana Pinheiro added 14 points.
Eastern Washington was paced by Ella Gallatin’s 26 points and 17 rebounds, while Kourtney Grossman added 15. The Eagles used a balanced attack to stay within striking distance, but couldn’t overcome Idaho’s depth and execution down the stretch.
The result capped a 17-1 Big Sky mark for the Vandals, while the Eagles finished 7-11. The Big Sky tournament begins March 7.
