SPOKANE, Wash. — The Colfax community wore purple to honor beloved boys coach Reece Jenkin who recently passed away and to cheer on his daughter Allie, a freshman guard, during a high school basketball tournament game.
On Friday, the day her father died, Allie scored 41 points. In her final game of the season, she finished with 19 points despite the emotional toll.
Todd Kinley, a longtime State B fan, praised the team’s resilience.
“They’ve been through a lot emotionally and what they did is come out and battle every single game, and to get here for them is just a huge accomplishment this year,” Kinley said.
Her teammates say Allie has missed only one practice and remains strong. Holly Robinson, a fellow Bulldog player, spoke about Allie’s dedication.
“She definitely plays for him every day all the time. She has accomplished so much, and he would be so proud of her,” Robinson said.
The support extended beyond Colfax. The opposing Adna Pirates cheerleaders wore purple shirts, and after the game, each player gave Allie a flower.
Although the Bulldogs lost by 25 points and their season ended, the community believes Coach Jenkin would be proud of their strength and perseverance.
