SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Zephyr earned a key 3-1 win over Fort Lauderdale United FC to stay alive in the USL Super League playoff race.
The Zephyr needed the win to eliminate Fort Lauderdale from the playoffs and stay within one point of the last of four playoff spots.
Catherine Rapp opened the scoring in the 26th minute, followed by a Maya Hensen successful penalty in the 60th. Kiara Locklear took advantage of an untimely Spokane giveaway to bring the deficit to one, and a Lena Silano to Ally Cook counter scored the clincher in the 89th.
The Zephyr needs to outpace DC Power and Dallas Trinity in points over the final three matches to secure a playoff spot.
Spokane next hosts Lexington SC on Saturday, May 2, at 6:00 p.m.
