SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The top-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs fell to the No. 5-seeded Saint Mary’s Gaels in a shock upset, 13-4.
Saint Mary’s earned 18 hits, including four doubles and one home run, and only struck out five times. This compares to nine Gonzaga hits and 11 strikeouts.
The Gaels gave the Zags their worst loss of WCC play this year and the worst overall loss since February at Oklahoma.
Gonzaga next plays in an elimination game tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. against the No. 3-seeded San Francisco Dons, who lost to Pacific on a walk-off grand slam.
