EUGENE, Ore. – The Washington State baseball team’s magical season continues with a 3-2 win over the Oregon State Beavers to enter the winner’s bracket.
WSU, the No. 3 seed, beat No. 2-seeded OSU behind an outstanding day for Mountain West Pitcher of the Year Nick Lewis, who threw a complete game, allowing six hits, two runs, and striking out one.
Wazzu led for the first time after a Dustin Robinson double in the top of the eighth, and they held on for the first NCAA Tournament win in 16 years, and their first win over a higher seed since 1990.
The Cougs face the winner of Oregon and Yale in tomorrow’s game, with first pitch time to be determined.
