SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga Bulldogs men’s basketball team added its second fifth-year transfer in two days: forward Chauncey Wiggins from Florida State.
The big man primarily serves as a stretch four, and he offers depth with the likely starters Braden Huff and Massamba Diop down low.
Wiggins earned a fifth year of eligibility through a Georgia-based lawsuit, and the Atlanta native uses his final season in Spokane after three seasons at Clemson and last year at FSU.
Last season, Wiggins scored 13.3 points, hauled in 3.9 rebounds and shot 85% from the free-throw line, all career-high marks. Even more significantly, he’s a 38.7% shooter from three.
The forward also spent time last month with the Boston Celtics Summer League team, and this will not affect his collegiate eligibility for this upcoming season.
