MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. — The Spokane Velocity scored three unanswered goals Saturday to beat Westchester SC 3-1 in League One play at The Stadium at Memorial Field.
Westchester took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute on Dean Guezen’s goal, but Spokane responded three minutes later when Neco Brett converted a penalty kick after Jack Denton drew a foul in the box.
Shavon John-Brown gave the Velocity the lead just before halftime, finishing a low cross from Denton for his team-leading sixth goal of the season. Andre Lewis added an insurance goal in the 72nd minute on a long-range shot, with Derek Waldeck credited with the assist.
The win was Spokane’s second on the road this season and its first away victory since June.
