MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Washington State Cougars (0-2) will wait another week for their first win of the 2026 season, as another lifeless day on offense causes a 34-7 loss at the Kansas State Wildcats (2-0)
Cougs’ quarterback Caden Pinnick only passed for 65 yards on nine completions (45% completion), totaling just over 200 yards over two weeks of play.
Jaylen Thomas was the easy defensive MVP, intercepting two passes, and taking the second for a touchdown to end the first half. Linebacker Isaiah Hung led all tacklers with eight total.
Third downs continue to be a massive sore spot, as the Cougs converted only two of 12 attempts, totaling just two for 21 through the first two games.
Special teams also struggled, as kicker Jack Stevens missed his only field goal attempt, now equaling his 2025 season total in misses (3). KSU also took a kick return over 60 yards, later resulting in a touchdown drive.
Wazzu next begins its home slate a week from today, Sept. 19, against the Duquesne Dukes at 12:30 p.m.
