CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington opened the 2024 season with a 42-27 win over Monmouth.
Wide receiver Efton Chism III led the way with 12 catches for 173 yards and three touchdowns.
Monmouth tied the game at 14 in the second quarter.
EWU outscored the Hawks 28-13 the rest of the way to secure the victory.
EWU quarterback Kekoa Visperas went 25-28 for 275 yards and five touchdowns.
The Eagles will host Drake at 4 p.m. on September 7.
