LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The No. 9 Washington State Cougars (8-24, 6-12) earned their third win over the No. 12 Seattle U Redhawks (5-25, 1-17) this season with a 80-54 WCC Tournament-opening finish.
Eleonora Villa paced the Cougs with 22 points, three assists and two rebounds. Malia Ruud had a great performance off the bench with 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Wazzu led for 87% of the game including a 66-44 run after a tight first quarter.
The Cougs face the No. 8 seed Pacific Tigers tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.
