SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Indians took down the Vancouver Canadians, 5-3, in a rare weekday early game.
This “Education Day” game welcomed hundreds of elementary school children to the stands, packed to watch the Indians win in cold temperatures. They got to watch 4 News Now anchor Derek Deis throw out the first pitch.
Spokane featured two players with their 2026 first home runs, as Kelvin Hidalgo’s second-inning and Alan Espinal’s sixth-inning blasts helped to separate Spokane.
Pitcher Stu Flesland III earned his first win of the year, and did so through 4.0 IP, five hits allowed, two runs allowed, and three strikeouts.
Spokane gears up for game two of the series tomorrow, back at Avista Stadium at 6:35 p.m.
