SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Velocity earned their first home win over FC Naples in club history with a 2-1 finish.
Medgy Alexandre scored in the eighth minute, followed by an Anuar Pelaez penalty kick goal in the 54th minute to take a 2-0 lead, later marred by Luca Mastrantonio’s added-time goal to spoil the clean sheet.
Spokane outfouled and picked up more yellow cards (2-0) than Naples, and attempted fewer total shots but connected when needed.
The win ties the Velocity with ONE Knoxville SC for the top of the USL League One table.
Spokane next faces the Las Vegas Lights in a USL Cup home match next Sunday, May 17, at 4:00 p.m.
