SPOKANE, Wash. — Hoopfest will close off about 45 city blocks starting Friday, which will make it more difficult for players and spectators to actually get into Hoopfest.
Part of Sprague, Riverside, Howard, Post and several other streets will be closed throughout the weekend.
Organizers say planning ahead to find places to park is the best way to go.
“Go onto our website to see all of the street closures, but the site is no different than it has been the last couple years,” Hoopfest executive director Riley Stockton said. “We’re going to be rocking and rolling and ready to go.”
With all of the road closures, you might not want to navigate downtown on your own. If you want to take public transit, STA has a few different options to get you to Hoopfest.
“We offer our Hoop Loop service, so you can park at the Jefferson Park and Ride underneath the freeway by Jefferson and Third Avenue. That is a $2 all-day fare instead of $2 each way and that service runs every 15 minutes,” said Carly Cortright with Spokane Transit Authority.
STA says it will also have City Line buses that you can catch at WSU Spokane, Gonzaga or Spokane Community College.
Anyone 18 years old or younger rides the bus for free.
You can also plan your trip in STA’s website if you have any questions about when and where to catch the bus.
