SEATTLE – Kade Anderson made his major league debut Saturday night, and the Mariners’ top pitching prospect delivered a solid performance.
The 22-year-old left-hander allowed three earned runs over 5 2/3 innings against the Chicago Cubs while striking out five. He left to a standing ovation from more than 45,000 fans at T-Mobile Park.
The Mariners then completed the comeback in dramatic fashion.
Randy Arozarena launched a two-run walk-off homer in the ninth inning, giving Seattle a 5-4 win. Arozarena finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and became just the seventh player in MLB history to hit both a leadoff homer and a walk-off homer in the same game.
The Mariners are now just three games back in the division, and two in the wild card race for that final remaining spot in the American League.
