CHENEY, Wash – Eastern Washington University announced Thursday it’s moving ahead with the second phase of “transformational upgrades” to Roos Field.
The centerpiece of the next phase of renovations is building an elevated press box above the eastern grandstands.
It’s part of a $250 million plan to make upgrades to EWU facilities, including $51 million for a new residence hall, a $110 million science building, $17 million in energy upgrades and more.
$25 million will be spent on upgrades to the stadium; $8 million of that is for the new press box.
The project is led by private donations and expected to be ready for the 2028 football season.
“The new press box is a critical project that will improve space for those covering events at Roos Field, but it’s so much more than that,” says EWU Athletic Director Tim Collins. “Once completed, the project will free up space on the west side of the stadium to enhance the amenities that our fans and alumni want. A more diverse selection of premium spaces will improve the fan experience and create more revenue opportunities for Eastern Athletics.”
