CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington Eagles (2-7, 1-5) secure its fifth-straight losing season with a 41-33 loss to the No. 14 Montana Grizzlies (6-3, 4-2).
EWU quarterback Nate Bell threw three interceptions today, adding to his 11 on the season. This offset the Eags coverting 7-16 third downs and one successful fourth down conversion.
A Keali’i Ah Yat 75-yard passing touchdown on the screen to wide receiver Brooks Davis jumpstarted the game on the first play of the game, leading to a 14-3 early Montana lead. EWU would bring the game to 14-13, but then gave up a 51-yard Hail Mary tipped-pass touchdown to Davis.
Montana would then stay in front of Eastern the rest of the game, denying a late two-point try, keeping a 35-33 lead. Ah Yat’s third touchdown pass to Davis with 2:05 to go lifted the Griz to the multi-score win.
The Grizzlies recorded 11 sacks against EWU today, a new single-game Montana school record.
EWU next travels to the Kibbie Dome to face the Idaho Vandals on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 2:00 p.m.
